The Harehope Quarry Project offers environmental education, field studies, rural skills training, community development, and community arts based from a limestone quarry in the North Pennines.
The aim of 'Sculpture in the Quarry' was to involve a wide audience in a public sculpture installation and sculpture workshops over the course of a week.
A willow sculpture was produced during the week by renowned artist Laura Ellen Bacon and now forms a feature along the boardwalk area in Harehope Quarry. Two workshops were run at the start and end of the week to encourage people to have an input into the sculpture.
In addition three family sculpture workshops were run using wood, stone and recycled materials.
