The Harehope Quarry Project offers environmental education, field studies, rural skills training, community development, and community arts based from a limestone quarry in the North Pennines.
30th Jan 2013 Throughout Spring and Summer 2013, outdoor education providers in Weardale (Co. Durham) are delivering a range of 8 half day workshops, hosted by the Harehope Quarry Project, specifically tailored towards teachers wanting to extend their use of the outdoor classroom.
30th Jan 2013 Harehope Quarry has branched out with two new teaching and learning sites. These sites will be used for bushcraft, green woodworking, wild food and environmental art events as well as providing a Forest School location in Weardale.
16th Apr 2012 Filming took place at Harehope Quarry last September for the ITV drama series 'Vera'. This new series will air on ITV 1 on Sunday 22 April at 8.30pm. Harehope Quarry will feature in the second episode on 29 April.
20th Jun 2013 10.00am - 5.00pm: Learn how po-up mechanisms workand explore putting together your own hand-made book. Steve (www.meoverthere.tumblr.com) is involved in animation and printmaking and currently has book works in international exhibitions.
06th Jul 2013 10.00am - 4.00pm: Johnnie (www.bearparkartists.co.uk)is a painter and printmaker with an original take on wildlife art. Paticipants will learn hand-made printmaking techniques.
13th Jul 2013 9.30am – 4.00pm: Your light airplane has crash landed in dense forest hundreds of miles from civilisation. You have no food or medicine or matches to light a fire. How will you survive? As a family you will solve problems and hopefully get to live!
