The Harehope Quarry Project offers environmental education, field studies, rural skills training, community development, and community arts based from a limestone quarry in the North Pennines.
The Harehope Quarry Project ran a garden waste collection scheme for 2 years. The scheme collected garden waste from homes in Frosterley and composted the waste on site.
Compost was made available to members of the scheme and any waste garden wood was made into charcoal for sale. The scheme ended in November 2008 as Wear Valley District Council introduced a dale-wide collection.
