The Harehope Quarry Project offers environmental education, field studies, rural skills training, community development, and community arts based from a limestone quarry in the North Pennines.
Three farm diversification events were held in March 2008 at Bradley Burn Farm Shop, Wolsingham. The events were funded by the Enterprise Agency through the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and facilitated by the Harehope Quarry Project Ltd.
The events covered three themes; environmental stewardship, food and tourism, education and access. For each event speakers represented farmers that had already diversified, organisations that could provide support and examples of regeneration initiatives already underway within Wear Valley district that may help to stimulate the process of farm diversification.
A web-based selection of farm diversification businesses was produced in booklet form to encourage farmers to continue to look at other examples from the region from which to draw inspiration.
